The Summer 2022 Nursing Class Pinning Ceremony for Harford Community College’s associate degree nursing graduates was held on August 19 in the Chesapeake Center in Bel Air.
The event was hosted by the College’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health Professions with Tony Wohlers, Ph.D., Interim Dean; Dale Spielman, MSN, RNC-OB, CNE, Director for Nursing Education; along with faculty and staff.
Full-time Nursing faculty Natasha Lawson, DNP, RN, led the graduates and all RNs in the audience as they recited the International Council of Nurses’ Pledge.
Congratulatory remarks were offered by Harford Community College President Dr. Theresa B. Felder, Interim Dean Tony Wohlers, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Timothy Sherwood, and Vice President for Student Success Dr. Jacqueline Jackson. Full-time Nursing faculty Alicia Gainey, MSN, RN, and Deanna Garza, MSN, RN, CNS, presented the pins, and Faith Andrews, MSN, RN, CNE, and Laura Schenk, MS, RN, CNE, handed the lamps to the graduates. Full-time Nursing faculty Sonia Galvan, DNP, RN, CNE, read the names of the graduates. Gabrielle Spalt was the graduating class speaker.
In addition to nursing uniforms worn by all graduates, members of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society wore special cords to designate their membership. Several students received recognition awards. Cristina Romero received the Maryland Nursing Association District 7 Leadership Award, Kathryn Wysong received the Spalding Science of Nursing Award, and Amanda Broyles received the Spalding Art of Nursing Award.
