“Art from the Soldier” is a series of ten portraits of veterans who are also practicing artists.
This series of paintings is the foundation of Pamela Wilde’s first curated exhibition, that will
also feature, the art work of these fine patriots.
Pamela Wilde is best known for, “Portraits from Havre De Grace” 2019. One hundred-twenty
portraits were created in live sessions and over the course of twelve months. Later exhibited in
Havre De Grace Maryland, the World Trade Center Baltimore and Maryland Hall Annapolis,
Maryland.
These portraits were created in open studio sessions that Pamela hosted at Gallery 220, in
support of the Havre De Grace Arts Collective. Pamela used a “Creativity Grant” from the
Maryland State Arts Council, in order to share her love of portrait painting.
Intending to shine a light on the artistic talents, of those who have served in the United States
Armed forces, Pamela reached out to her local community to engage veterans that were also
practicing artists and hired them to model for these sessions.
Pamela is proud to bring together these artists and veterans, and to share their talents in these
group exhibitions.
Each veteran will be sharing their unique talents, alongside these portraits. Their talents include
the performance arts, two and three dimensional works (2D/3D). We will explore how their
military service has influenced their art.
Pamela has a life long passion for portraiture and enjoys using her talents to engage with her
community. She currently serves on the board of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters
and is a member of the Portrait Society of America.
