About the Artist
Ellie grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was born, raised, and educated. She lived in the Pimlico neighborhood of Baltimore, five blocks from the Pimlico Racetrack. Ellie enjoyed watching the exercise riders and jockeys train for upcoming races because her father worked at the track. She used to love going to the stables with her sketchbook to draw the horses and hounds when she was a kid. Her passion for drawing and painting animals, as well as people who work with animals, has always been a part of her work. Some of her sketches depicted the grooms caring for the horses and hounds.
