The Harford County Office of Economic Development, in partnership with the Harford County Chamber of Commerce, will host a conference on Wednesday, October 4 for small businesses interested in bidding on the billions of dollars in annual contracts awarded by Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG).  “Doing Business with APG 2.0,” will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Towson University in Northeastern Maryland (TUNE) building, located at 510 Thomas Run Road in Bel Air.

Small business professionals at the conference will have the opportunity to learn about the bidding process and network with representatives from the APG Office of Small Business Programs, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Maryland Procurement Technical Assistance Center and Maryland Small Business Development Center, among others.

Following introductions and networking opportunities, the conference will offer two separate tracks. The startup track will provide assistance with the fundamentals for those who have never before done business with APG. The intermediate track will help those who are established and ready to bid on contracts.

Attendees will also be introduced to a new opportunity to do business with APG. The Maryland Department of Commerce, Cecil County and Harford County will be launching the Defense Technology Commercialization Center (DefTech), which will take technology produced at Aberdeen Proving Ground and develop it for commercialization and public use. DefTech is expected to help defense contractors foster new lines of business in the tech industry.

All attendees will have the opportunity to hear a panel discussion led by business representatives from three Harford County companies that have successfully obtained and continued contracts with APG, and ask questions of the panel.

The conference costs $20, and registration is required. Register at: http://harfordchambermd.chambermaster.com/events/details/doing-business-with-apg-small-business-conference-1951
