Put yourself in “her shoes.” Since 2001, men, women, and their families around the world have joined Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®: The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence. It is a unique opportunity to raise awareness in our community about the serious causes and effects of sexualized violence. SARC’s Annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes® will be held April 20th, 2024, at 119 S Main St, Bel Air, MD 21014.
Why participate in Walk A Mile In Her Shoes®? This event is a key awareness and fundraising event for SARC. It allows SARC to provide free services and resources to victims of sexual and domestic violence. According to RAINN, every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime and 9 out 10 rape victims are female. 1 in 33 American men have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime.
The cause always remains the same: to support survivors, to bring awareness to sexual assault, and to raise critical funds to help support SARC’s mission and advocate for victims and survivors.
There are plenty of activities for the entire family to take part in during this event including: music by Harford DJs, a photo booth with Clearly the Best Photo Booth, Crossroads Bistro Food Truck, face painting, cornhole, and so much more. Since 1978, SARC has provided hope and resources to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, and stalking. Services include a 24 hour-helpline, counseling, legal representation, a confidential 40-bed safe house, and community outreach and education.
