Rally Against Parkinson’s raised more than $27,000 to continue to provide its free Rock Steady Boxing program to anyone diagnosed with Parkinson’s and to help expand their outreach program at its annual Vegas Baby! Bull and Oyster Roast fundraiser.

Rally Against Parkinson’s- Harford Inc (RAP) recently held its annual bull roast at Richling Ballroom. RAP transported 400 supporters to Vegas Baby! for the second year in a row in a night full of fun and entertainment that helped raise over $27,000 for the all-volunteer-run organization. Music was provided by DJ, Eric Laughlin, while photographer, Megan Janiski captured all of the fun. Strolling magician, Lowell Sheets, dazzled guests with card tricks sponsored by local HVAC service provider HGH Mechanical. There were over 70 silent auction items and over 30 raffle baskets provided by individuals and local businesses from the area. Diamond and sapphire earrings donated by Ramona Coleman of R.C. Trading highlighted a raffle where 60 participants walked away with a flute of champagne, and one lucky winner took the diamond prize home.

The board members of RAP spent several months preparing for the event, working together to make the evening fun for all attending and a successful fundraiser for the non-profit. Jim Hampshire is elected President of RAP. “The monies raised are essential to providing the Rock Steady Boxing program, free of charge, to anyone diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, as well as helping us move forward in our future outreach program. As we strive to grow our outreach to more of the underserved population, the continued support of our community partners will propel us further.” RAP will continue fundraising with their Annual Charity Golf Outing at Greystone Golf Course on Friday, June 14, 2024. Many sponsorship opportunities are available. Please, contact the fundraising director Debbie Umbarger, at [email protected] for more information and to help join the fight! Rally Against Parkinson’s (RAP) – Harford Inc. is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer non-profit headquartered in Bel Air, Maryland. RAP raises funds to provide the more than 1,200 people living in Harford County that have Parkinson’s Disease (PD) with a better quality of life through our Fitness Programs and outreach. RAP works with Forest Hill Health and Fitness and the Y of Central Maryland to provide facilities, purchase and maintain equipment, and fund certified trainers to conduct exercise classes designed specifically to combat the symptoms of PD; this begins with Rock Steady Boxing (RSB). RAP also provides free virtual RSB classes that include elements of Tai Chi.

Rally Against Parkinson’s was founded to provide these services to help those diagnosed with PD to fight back. RAP does this by raising money to provide the RSB classes to the PD community for free, and by promoting awareness of the disease. Through these services, we also provide the PD community with information and education about available resources, helping both those with PD and their caregivers.
