“This Too Shall Pass,” an art exhibition featuring works by Mayuko Ono Gray, will be on display from March 11 to April 12 in the Chesapeake Gallery in the Student Center on the Harford Community College campus.

All are invited to the opening reception in the Chesapeake Gallery on Tuesday, March 12, from 5 to 6:30 PM. In addition, there will be an artist lecture and slide show, “Path So Far,” on Wednesday, March 13 from 1 to 2 PM in Joppa Hall, Room J115.

Experience the captivating fusion of Japanese and American influences in Mayuko Ono Gray’s graphite drawings. Within each artwork, the calligraphic characters of a Japanese proverb form a continuous line as a metaphor for traversing a physical existence at birth, through a complicated life, to the exit of the body in death. Perpetual energy, emanating from atoms to shape matter and form, floods the compositions and illustrates the invisible omnipresence of the soul beyond its temporary earthly existence.

The Chesapeake Gallery is located on the second floor of the Student Center on Harford’s campus at 401 Thomas Run Road in Bel Air. Parking is free and handicapped parking is available close to the gallery. Gallery hours are Mondays-Thursdays, 8:30 AM-5 PM and Fridays, 8:30 AM-4:30 PM. The gallery is closed on weekends and major holidays.
