Harford Community College held a completion ceremony for graduates of the 2023 Medical Assisting Program on December 1 in Darlington Hall. Thirteen students completed 160 hours of training between January and December 2023 in physicians’ offices across Harford County after completing coursework for their Medical Assisting Certification and Associate of Applied Science degrees.

Ashley Meisel, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Professions, welcomed the graduates and their guests to the event. Brittany Arkins, Program Director for the Medical Assisting Program, presented pins to the spring, summer and fall graduates.

Spring 2023 graduates were Hannah Brooks and Amanda Haga; summer 2023 graduates were Hailie Bailowich, Jessica Battista, Anna King, Candi Nations, and Jasmine Sturr-Smith; and fall 2023 graduates were Khadejah Alman, Dawn Carrion-Bravo, Pamela Knight, Serena Landers, Alexis Williams, and Hailey Woodward.

Arkins lauded the completers, saying, “This group of students has displayed exceptional skills, hard work, and resiliency to achieve their goal of becoming medical assistants. Many have endured obstacles in navigating classes during a series of repercussions from COVID. Now they are in the midst of taking their national certification exams to become Certified Medical Assistants. Several who have completed the program were hired immediately after their practicum experiences and are now utilizing their skills to help patients in Harford County medical offices.”
