The Board of Directors for the Discovery Center at Water’s Edge are happy to announce they have selected Nikki Snyder as the Discovery Center’s new executive director.
“We are delighted with Nikki,” said Board Chairman Charlie Nietubicz. “She’s a perfect match for our mission of inspiring kids of all ages to love science and technology. She’s had a successful career as an entrepreneur that demonstrates she has the business acumen, leadership, and problem-solving skills to grow the Discovery Center into one of northeastern Maryland’s leading attractions.”
As the founder and CEO of Kiddie Crusoe, LLC, a children’s amusement center, Nikki played a pivotal role in securing critical startup financing through the development of a comprehensive business plan. She oversaw all operational aspects of the business, from long-term planning and staff recruitment to payroll processing and procedural development. Under her management, Kiddie Crusoe thrived, boasting increased profitability, heightened brand recognition, and client loyalty.
In addition, Nikki is a seasoned web developer. As the founder and owner of eCity Designs, LCC, she translated client requirements into captivating website concepts, fostering user-friendly experiences that provided the foundation for her clients’ digital success.
Nikki attended the University of Maryland at College Park and has been a Harford County resident for most of her life.
About the Discovery Center at Water’s Edge
The Discovery Center at Waters Edge will be an interactive STEM center where kids of all ages can experience hands-on science and technology, see tomorrow’s technology today, learn the history of scientific discovery in our area, discover new worlds, and make new connections.
On November 10, the Discovery Center will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Preview Center in Belcamp, MD, which has several full-scale exhibits designed to give visitors an experience of what is to come in the planned full-scale science center. The Preview Center also offers classroom and community space where the Discovery Center has launched several summer and after-school programs. Additionally, the facility is available for school field trips, educator meetings, and nonprofit science group events.
Discovery Center leaders are currently pursuing Phase 2 of the facility, which will expand the center to be able to host between 40,000-50,000 people per year.
