This exciting event promises to bring the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to life in a captivating and interactive way.
Event Highlights:
Virtual Ribbon Cutting (1: 30 p.m.): Join us virtually for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony that marks the beginning of an educational adventure like no other. Experience the excitement as we unveil DCWE’s Preview Center to the world.
Family-Friendly Celebration (4-7 p.m.): Gather your family and friends for an afternoon of fun and exploration. Engage with our hands-on exhibits and enjoy live demonstrations suitable for all ages.
A Vision of Discovery: For over a century, Northeastern Maryland has been a hotbed of technological innovation, with ties to pioneering developments in computing, energy, 3D printing, agriculture, and more. DCWE envisions itself as a place where new worlds are discovered, connections are made, STEM literacy is nurtured, new technology is presented, and science history is uncovered.
Phases of Growth:
- Phase I (2023): The Preview Center opens its doors, offering a sneak peek into the future vision for the DCWE in STEM education, leading-edge technology, and science heritage.
- Phase II (2025): A 10,000-square-foot facility will feature 12-15 hands-on exhibits, an outdoor exhibit overlooking the Bush River, flexible spaces, additional classrooms, and a store.
- Phase III (2028): DCWE will triple in size with the construction of a 35,000-square-foot permanent facility, poised to welcome over 100,000 visitors annually.
