Nichol’s culinary journey took root long before the cafe’s inception. For four years, she honed her craft by creating exquisite specialty cakes at the former Open Door Cafe. This experience not only deepened her expertise but also ignited her dream of creating a space where delicious food and warm hospitality could flourish.
The heart of Newberry Cafe & Bakery lies in Nichol’s commitment to crafting both delectable baked goods and a welcoming atmosphere. Nestled in Bel Air, Maryland, the cafe is a true labor of love for Nichol and her family, who relocated from New Jersey to make this venture a reality. Drawing inspiration from her roots, Nichol has brought a taste of New Jersey to the menu, introducing favorites like The Jersey—a mouthwatering pork roll egg-and-cheese sandwich—as well as bagels and hard rolls that pay homage to her hometown.
