Harford Community College Announces New Associate VP for Student Development

Harford Community College announces the appointment of Joseph A. Giuffre to the position of Associate Vice President for Student Development. He will assume his duties on September 18, 2023. Giuffre has over 20 years of higher education experience, primarily in student affairs.

Giuffre earned a Master of Education in Human Sexuality Education from Widener University, a Master of Education in Counseling from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Art in English & Communication from Cabrini College. Although he is currently on hiatus from his doctoral studies, he plans to continue his pursuit of a Doctorate of Education in Policy, Planning & Administration at West Chester University in the near future.

Prior to joining Harford, he held the position of Student Activities Generalist/Consultant for Alvernia University. He previously served as Associate Vice President of Student Success/Academic Advisement, Dean of Academic Advisement, and Assistant Dean of Academic Advisement with Berkeley College in New York, a for-profit institution; Director of Academic Advising & Student Services at New York University; and Dean of Student Services at The Art Institute of New York City. Giuffre also has prior instructor experience, having served as an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University in Pennsylvania and Montclair State University in New Jersey.

Professional affiliations include the National Academic Advising Association, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, American College Personnel Association – College Student Educators International, and National Orientation Directors Association.
