Congratulations To Our Nonprofit Of The Week

Steppingstone Farm Museum

About the Nonprofit:

Steppingstone Museum, founded by J. Edmund Bull, is a cherished institution preserving the rural heritage of Harford County. Bull’s passion for woodworking tools, stemming from his family’s background in construction, led him to start collecting and expanding his ancestors’ collection in 1958. Over the years, the museum has grown to house over 6,000 hand tools from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

After renovating his buildings, Bull opened his displays to the public, leading to the formation of the Steppingstone Museum Association in 1970. With the dedication of volunteers, the museum expanded, and in 1978, it found its permanent home at the Land of Promise on Quaker Bottom Road in Susquehanna State Park.

Today, Steppingstone Museum spans 23 acres and consists of 23 buildings, offering visitors a captivating glimpse into Harford County’s rural past. Operated by volunteers, the museum has welcomed countless visitors, inviting them to step back in time and appreciate the rich history and craftsmanship of the region.
