Harford Chamber Announces Harford Award Recipients, Celebrates Business at 30th Annual Ceremony

Members of the Harford County business community and local dignitaries gathered for the 30th Annual Harford Award on Wednesday, October 19th at Water’s Edge Events Center from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The prestigious award honors companies and organizations which exemplify a strong commitment to the Harford County business community. Recipients are chosen through a nomination/application process focused on business growth, increased employment, unique and creative business strategies, technology innovation, and charitable contributions.

Mary Ann Bogarty, Chief Lending Officer/Senior Vice President at Jarrettsville Federal Savings & Loan and Harford County Chamber Board Chair welcomed attendees by thanking them for celebrating the shining stars of the Harford County business community on National Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day.

The Harford County Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 2022 Harford Award Recipients: Ron Filling & Fred Anderson (Andy Klein Legacy Award), Architectural Design Works (Service), Harford County Education Foundation (Non-Profit), Skylight Creative Ideas (Retail), The Clorox Company (Manufacturing & Distribution), and MacGregor’s Restaurant (Hospitality/Tourism).

The Andy Klein Legacy Award recognizes those people/businesses showing consistent and continual dedication to our county. Aside from Andy Klein being well-known in the community for serving as President of Klein’s family markets, Andy was well-respected for his philanthropic contributions; a giving man of his time, expertise, and resources. Andy Klein embodied the fabric of Harford County – faith, family, and community.

The 2022 Andy Klein legacy Harford Award Recipients are Ron Filling & Fred Anderson who dedicated themselves to serving Harford County through Thompson Automotive Group in Edgewood and various philanthropic initiatives.  Ron and Fred were at the forefront of the Route 40 Revitalization efforts and created an Auto Mechanic Apprenticeship program at the dealership.

Celebrating over 30years in business, Architectural Design Works (ADW) is the 2022 Harford Award Recipient in the Service category. ADW is passionate about “designing value” for its clients.  Harford County’s landscape is greatly influenced by countless ADW projects; projects rooted in beauty, safety, and function.

Harford County Education Foundation is the 2022 Harford Award Recipient in the Non-Profit category. Harford County Education Foundation is founded on community service and is the only independent non-profit solely dedicated to the betterment of students in Harford County.  Since its inception, the Harford County Education Foundation has provided 102 college scholarships, $246k in school supplies, $124k in school/classroom innovation grants, and over 21k books gifted to children birth through 5th grade.

Family-owned and operated since 1977, Skylight Creative Ideas is the 2022 Harford Award recipient in the Retail category. Skylight Creative Ideas is the highest revenue-producing promotional products company in Harford County and is in the top 15% nationally for a promotional products family-owned business.

The 2022 Harford Award Recipient in the Manufacturing & Distribution category is The Clorox Company.  Clorox has been in Aberdeen since 1992.  Clorox has increased wages year over year through their skill-pay based program and continues to offer job opportunities where employees are trained to become highly skilled, technical experts in various aspects of the business model.  Clorox-Aberdeen is the largest bleach provider in the company serving the Midwest, Atlantic, and Northeast markets.

MacGregor’s Restaurant located in beautiful Havre de Grace is the 2022 Harford Award Recipient in the Tourism/Hospitality category.  Celebrating its 35th anniversary, MacGregor’s attributes its longevity to believing that success is attainable when you love what you do and who you do it for every single day.  MacGregor’s is so much more than food-it’s community!
