The Harford County Health Department welcomes Harford County Physician Deputy Health Officer, Jamie Sibel, MD, MPH, MS, starting on September 7, 2022. Dr. Sibel’s role will be to provide medical oversight to all clinical operations, with a particular focus on two health department locations, Woodbridge and 1. N Main Family Health Center. In addition, Dr. Sibel will provide guidance to the Population Health and Epidemiology Unit.
Dr. Sibel attended Emory University as an undergraduate, received her Master of Science in
Occupational Therapy from Boston University and her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health
from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Sibel completed her preventive medicine
residency concentrating on public health and epidemiology. During her residency, Dr. Sibel served as a
House Staff Officer for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement and has worked on the Maryland
Department of Health’s state-wide School Based Health Center initiatives and Perinatal Care
Coordination. She also fostered her passion for epidemiology by participating in multiple research
projects that were published in various journals.
Dr. Sibel is eager to continue working on her passion of preventive medicine at the health department
and says “I am honored to serve Harford County in this role. My public health training and focus on
prevention guides my mission to meet the health needs of the community. I look forward to addressing
the health issues that are most important to the residents of Harford County.”
