About the Business
Let us start by congratulating Freedom Federal Credit Union on winning the 2021 Harford County Living Choice Award for Favorite Local Financial Institution.
In 1953, when it was first established, Freedom Federal Credit Union was known as MATCOM Federal Credit Union. The Credit Union first opened its doors in Baltimore, but it eventually relocated to Harford County in order to be closer to the Edgewood Arsenal (which became part of Aberdeen Proving Ground). 1999 was the year that they were granted their community charter to serve Harford County, and the following year, they changed their name to Freedom Federal Credit Union. In the year 2020, the NCUA granted Freedom an expansion of their community charter so that it now also encompasses Baltimore County. Today, Freedom assists people who live in Harford County and Baltimore County, as well as those who work there, worship there, volunteer there, or attend school there, as well as their families. In addition, they provide local businesses with financial services such as savings and checking accounts, loans, and other business services. Freedom is thrilled to call the communities they support both home and workplace.
