Put yourself in “her shoes.” Since 2001, men, women, and their families around the world have joined Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®: The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence. It is a unique opportunity to raise awareness in our community about the serious causes and effects of sexualized violence.
Due to continued COVID restrictions, our walk will once again be VIRUTAL!
Why participate in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®? This event is a key awareness and fundraising event for SARC. It allows SARC to provide free services and resources to victims of sexual and domestic violence. According to RAINN, every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime and 9 out 10 rape victims are female. 1 in 33 American men have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime.
This year’s walk may still be different, but the cause remains the same: to support survivors, to bring awareness to sexual assault, and to raise as critical funds help support SARC’s mission and advocate for victims and survivors.
There are weekly challenges taking place and activities for the entire family to take part in. Follow SARC on social media and make sure you are signed up to receive SARC emails so you can participate in virtual challenges and be sure to join us on Saturday, April 24th for a message from our Honorary Chair Barry Glassman and for fun virtual activities and surprises that everyone can enjoy! All participants who register on of before April 5th will receive their complimentary event t-shirt and swag bag.

Proceeds from the event go to benefit SARC the only full-service domestic violence and sexual violence agency in Harford County. SARC is a comprehensive victim services program that provides resources to primary and secondary victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, child abuse and stalking in Harford County, Maryland.

Since 1978, SARC has provided hope and resources to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, and stalking. Services include a 24 hour-helpline, counseling, legal representation, a confidential safe house, and community outreach and education.
