The Cultural Center at the Opera House remains closed due to COVID-19. The Havre de Grace Arts Collective is partnering with the Hosanna School Museum in a week-long celebration of Juneteenth.

The new film JUST MERCY, starring Michael Jordan and Jamie Foxx, was scheduled for screening on June 19th in celebration of Juneteenth. We are pleased to announce that the film has been released for free streaming on a number of channels, including Amazon Prime, YouTube, Fandango and others. We strongly urge you to view this outstanding movie, based on the book by Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, and then join us for a post-film discussion.

The film discussion will be moderated by Mecca Lewis-Shakur and will include Huwe Burton, exonerated through the efforts of The Innocence Project; Dr. Charles Chavis, historian and educator; and Dr. Natasha Pratt Harris, professor of Criminal Justice at Morgan State.

Just Mercy is a deeply moving film, a human story about injustice and justice and how intangible and ephemeral they both really are. This true story follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice for Walter McMillian, wrongly convicted for murder. Starring Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx.
