BEL AIR, MD — Harford baseball extended its winning streak to 19 games under the lights Monday at the Harford Sports Complex with a 6-5 walk-off victory over the Cecil Seahawks.
The Fighting Owls return to the diamond tomorrow with a double header at Mercer County.
Harford (45-7, 22-3 Maryland Juco) opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning against Cecil. Yariel Rodriguez (Philadelphia, Pa.) had an RBI single and scored later in the inning on a Michael Lavanga (Alexandria, Va.) single.
Cecil tied the game in the top of the third on a two-run homer by Tyler Burger.
The Fighting Owls regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth on Jeremy Reyes' (Queens, N.Y.) RBI single.
Cecil took the lead for the first time in the top of the seventh inning after a sacrifice fly and Harford error.
Harford jumped back on top in the bottom of the eighth, as a Seahawks error allowed two runs to score and make it 5-4.
Titus Shay (Harrisburg, Pa.) earned the win for Harford, allowing two hits and one run over three innings, striking out five and walking one.
Ben Christine (St. John's College) pitched three innings in relief and surrendered one hit and zero runs while striking out five and walking two.
Christian Nielsen (Travels Rest, S.C. ) started the game for the Fighting Owls. The righty gave up five hits and two runs over two and two-thirds innings
Reyes set the tone at the top of the lineup, with two hits in three at bats. Rueben Livingston (Reading, Pa.), Rodriguez, Reyes and Lavanga each drove in one run for Harford. Reyes led Harford with three walks.
The Fighting Owls head to Lackawanna on Sunday for a double header to end the regular season. NJCAA Region 20 Divsion I playoffs begin May 2nd at WVU Potomac State.
Ryan Albin (Southhampton, Pa.) leads the team with a .409 batting average. The center fielder is slugging .642 with five homers, 13 doubles and two triples to go along with a 1.190 OPS.
Frank Adamski (John Carroll) and Keldrin Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) are the other two Fighting Owls batting above .300, hitting .397 and .379, respectively. Adamski is slugging .656 with four home runs and 54 RBIs, while Rodriguez owns a .697 slugging percentage, leads the team with 57 RBIs and is tied for the team lead with eight homers. Both hitters lead the Fighting Owls with 18 doubles.
On the mound, Shay, Ryan Garcia (Centreville, Va.) and Dominic Williams (Coatesville, Pa.) each have sub-3.00 ERAs.
All of Shay (15) and Williams' (10) appearances have been out of the bullpen. Shay leads the team with four saves and has pitched to a 2.38 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 34 innings and opponents are hitting just .235 against him. Williams has thrown just nine and a third innings this season so far, but holds a 2.89 ERA, has struck out 13 and opponents have a .222 batting average against.
Eleven of Garcia's 12 appearances have been as a starter. In 41 innings pitched, he is 7-1 with a 2.41 ERA, 49 strikeouts, an opponents batting average against of .218 and two complete games.
