On Sunday, May 18, 2025, CTR will host its annual 5K Fundraiser and Fun Run! CTR invites members of the community to register as competitive racers or fun run/walk participants to run or walk for approximately three (3) miles on the CTR farm and the trail at Poplar Grove Park adjacent to them. The race will begin and end at The Pavilion at Poplar Grove Park located at 3519 Conowingo Road, Street, MD 21154.
Registration opens at 8:00am and the race/walk will begin at 9:00am. The early bird race entry fee is $25, the fun run/walk is $20 and Kids (12 and under) are $15. Participants can register and pay online or print out a paper registration to mail to CTR via their website at: https://ctrchanginglives.org/hoofin-it-5k/.
It is CTR’s hope that this event will help them raise funds for operational expenses in their veteran’s program, “Horses and Heroes” and their regular programming which connects people who live with disabilities and diagnoses to the healing power of horses.
After the race concludes, awards are presented. All are invited to the CTR farm for a Horse Discovery Center Event, until 12pm! Guests to CTR will get a chance to meet some of their horses and ponies, and participate in some fun, horse-related activities.
CTR’s adaptive riding lessons and unmounted basic horsemanship lessons have demonstrated the benefit to children, adults, and veterans—in physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual ways. Since their founding in 2003, thousands of participants can attest to the way their connection with CTR’s healing herd of horses and ponies has helped them. But sustaining CTR’s programming as a non-profit is expensive and a constant challenge. They have farm, facility, herd, and operational expenses that often cannot be covered through grant-funding and program fees. And that is why they have created this fun and inclusive event!
