November 11 lineup includes MPT’s Salute to Veterans special at 7 p.m.
Maryland Public Television (MPT) will offer four veterans-themed programs on MPT-HD, MPT2/Create®, and the free PBS app on Monday, November 11. The Veterans Day programs spotlight individuals who have served in the military, their experiences in war and peace, and the people who support them and preserve their legacies.
The schedule is highlighted by MPT’s Salute to Veterans special at 7 p.m. on MPT-HD and the MPT livestream. During the half-hour program, reporter Nancy Yamada tells stories about organizations supporting our region’s veterans and some of the veterans who are making a meaningful difference in their communities. A preview of the program is available at youtube.com/watch?v=VhmZCWe2fdw.
Additional programs on MPT-HD’s Veterans Day schedule are Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts at 9 p.m. and Make Peace or Die: Honor the Fallen at 10 p.m.
MPT2/Create® and the station’s livestream will feature at 9 p.m. the one-hour documentary Dad’s Secret War: France 1944, narrated by actor Kevin Bacon.
The complete schedule of MPT’s veterans-themed offerings in November is available at mpt.org/veterans/.
Veterans Day, originally known as Armistice Day, was first celebrated on November 11, 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I. It was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 1938 and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all United States Armed Forces military veterans.
