The deadline to apply to put a float, marching unit, vehicle or mobile unit in the Bel Air 4th of July Parade has been extended to June 21, the Bel Air Independence Day Committee, Inc. announced today.

In keeping with the celebration this year of the Town of Bel Air’s 150th Anniversary, the theme for this year’s parade is Bel Air—The Next 150 Years. This future-focused theme encourages participants to cast their imaginations forward to the next century and a half of Bel Air history. What exciting events might take place? What might the town and its residents look like in 2174? Will there finally be flying cars?

“We’re planning another terrific parade for Thursday, July 4, and we’re excited to see how our creative community shows this year’s theme in their entries,” said Michael Blum, Parade Chairman and Committee Vice-President. “The Bel Air 4th of July Parade itself is a treasured part of Bel Air’s history, and we’re eager to celebrate the town’s anniversary—but we can’t do it without you!”

Applications to join the parade can be submitted through the Bel Air Independence Day Committee’s website at https://belairjuly4.org/parade-application.php. Applications should be received by June 21, 2024.

As in past years, the parade once again steps off from the intersection of South Main Street and Idlewild Street at 6 p.m., and continues through town to the intersection of North Main Street and Gordon Street. A complete map of the parade route can be found at: https://belairjuly4.org/pdf/parade-route-2024.pdf.

The full slate of traditional 4th of July events will take place across Bel Air, including horseshoe pitching, games and events in Shamrock Park, a bicycle rodeo, and much more! For the full schedule, visit https://belairjuly4.org/schedule.php.
