A Grease-themed networking event to raise awareness and funds for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Harford Family House, the largest provider of housing for families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Harford County, will be hosting its 7th annual networking event, Ahoy! Cocktails by the Bay from 5pm-8pm on May 17th at La Banque de Fleuve at the Seaplane Base in Havre de Grace.
Each year, Harford Family House selects a theme for Ahoy! Cocktails by the Bay and invites 10-12 prominent members of the community to get into character and fundraise for five weeks leading up to the event. This year’s theme is the 1978 classic musical, Grease, with 12 community members taking on the roles of Sandy, Danny, the Pink Ladies, T-Birds, Vince Fontaine, and Cha-Cha. Community members getting into character include former Harford County Executive, Barry Glassman; Harford County Clerk of Court, Michelle Karczeski; Co-owner of Market Street Brewery and Attorney at Wilbur W. Bolton, PA, Andy Chabalowski; Owner of Harford County Living and Host of Conversations with Rich Bennett, Rich Bennett; and a handful of others. The top fundraiser will receive the Buoy of Hope award at Ahoy! Cocktails by the Bay, the culmination and celebration of cast members’ fundraising efforts. This event offers networking, gorgeous waterfront views, signature cocktails, lavish hor d’ouerves by MacGregors, live music by local talent Sam O’Hare, silent auction and much more.

To date, this event has raised nearly $300,000 for Harford Family House, which assists families and individuals in Harford County who are experiencing homelessness via shelter, case management, and programming. When asked why he was willing to join this year’s fundraising cast and don the blue suit and mic of Grease character Vince Fontaine, former Harford County Executive, Barry Glassman states, “During my years in public service, I was able to see firsthand how Harford Family House changed lives and put families on a course of self-sufficiency. Please join me in continuing to support their mission!” Senior Vice President of Harford Bank, Sandy Osborn, who is getting into character as Sandy, states “Imagine being hungry, cold and with nowhere to go. That’s a daily reality for those experiencing homelessness. I support Harford Family House because I want to help these individuals and families receive the support and resources they need to overcome their challenges and ensure that these vulnerable members of our community have access to shelter, food and other essential services, giving them hope for a brighter future.”
Harford Family House invites the entire Harford County community to join them for this fun event and encourages attendees to wear 50s attire, though it is not required. Tickets to the event can be purchased at https://bit.ly/AHOY2023 and are $50/person or $65 for VIP, which includes premier parking and one drink ticket.
