In this episode, Rich has a conversation with Kim Hamer.

Kim Hamer witnessed her 44-year-old husband breathe his last breath on April 16, 2009. During his illness and following his death, she was astounded by the support they received from employees, supervisors, friends, and relatives. Kim began to refer to their generous behaviors as “acts of love.”

After the death of her husband, Kim, a leader in human resources, saw that managers were not provided with any assistance for handling disease or death among their teams. She saw that their lack of useful tools and direction was costly. It had a negative impact on staff engagement, increased employee turnover, and decreased productivity.

She aimed to alter the situation. Kim founded 100 Acts of Love, a consulting firm that provides tools to assist leaders boost team productivity, trust, and engagement when an entire team member is affected by cancer, by combining her personal experience with her professional expertise and leadership abilities.

She is the author of 100 Acts of Love: A Girlfriend’s Guide to Loving Your Friend Through Cancer or Loss, an easy-to-read book containing 100 practical, simple, and efficient methods to help a coworker, friend, or employee. She is a sought-after HR consultant and public speaker who resides in Los Angeles with her generally well-behaved college-aged children.
