Picnic and Meet & Greet on August 28

Temple Adas Shalom’s Social Committee is pleased to announce its New Year Kick-Off Picnic and Meet & Greet is open to all families who are interested in connecting with the Jewish community in Harford and Cecil Counties.  Come meet the congregants, lay leaders, principal of Kehillah MAGNET religious school, director of the HJC Early Learning Center, and the synagogue’s new rabbi, Meeka Simerly, on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Temple Adas Shalom in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Meet & Greet

For those who are new or returning visitors to Temple Adas Shalom, a Meet & Greet will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Attendees will be able to enjoy a drink (wine, beer, or non-alcoholic) while touring the facilities, ask questions, and meet congregation members to learn more about the services offered at Temple Adas Shalom.

“We are excited to give Jewish community members a chance to come see Temple Adas Shalom and learn all about the great services and events we offer in addition to our weekly religious services,” says Susannah Kolstad, co-chair of the Social Committee.  “In addition, we are thrilled to introduce Rabbi Meeka Simerly to the community and congregants.”

New Year Kick-Off Picnic

At 6:30 pm, guests and congregants are welcome to partake in hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the fixings at a picnic to celebrate the start of a new year.  Kids will have access to a bounce house thanks to Jump On It in Belcamp, Maryland.  The picnic will also feature live music and dancing while Days of Vinyl, a local band, performs for the crowd. The synagogue’s Sisterhood will be providing hats to be decorated and worn during the event.

“The picnic is a great opportunity to meet the congregation while having a great time outside.” Susannah Kolstad said, “We look forward to welcoming families from our Early Learning Center and Kehillah MAGNET Religious School as well as families from our community to help us welcome the new Jewish year, 5783.”
