Klein’s ShopRite announced that its Forest Hill location will now be solar-powered. The 394-kilowatt solar system will begin operating on Aug. 12 and will generate 512 MWhs of clean energy annually.
“We could not be more excited to launch the Klein’s ShopRite of Forest Hill’s solar power system,” said Klein’s ShopRite Site Developer and Facilities Manager Stephen Klein. “We are committed to doing our part to help the environment and are always looking for innovative, eco-friendly solutions. We look forward to launching similar systems at our other locations in the future.”
The solar energy generation at the Klein’s ShopRite of Forest Hill will reduce Carbon / GHG emissions by 363 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) on an annual basis, the equivalent to 45 homes’ energy usage per year, or the equivalent to 402,000 lbs. of coal burned per year.
The system features bifacial solar panels that generate solar energy from both sides of the panel and a new white reflective membrane rooftop for maximum solar performance with no rooftop penetrations.
The system was turnkey designed and built specifically for the Klein’s ShopRite of Forest Hill to optimize safety, performance, and value. The project development team includes Alternative Energy Development Group, LLC, US Global Glow, and EPC firm Meadow Valley Electric (www.mvegroup.com).
