The Harford County Association of REALTORS® (HarCAR) will host a Fair Housing Day on June 11th from 10-12 p.m. at the Abingdon Library.

Fair Housing Day is an opportunity for potential homebuyers to learn more about fair housing rights, the homebuying process, special home buying programs available and more. Materials will be distributed for free to attendees.

“Now more than ever, it’s crucial to know your rights as a home buyer,” said HarCAR President Heather Schafer Adkins. “Many buyers, especially first-time homebuyers, are unaware of their rights as well as programs/opportunities available to help them save money. We are looking forward to educating the public and equipping them with the materials they need to prepare for purchasing a home.”

This event is sponsored by HarCAR and the Harford County Public Library. Various vendors will be present including Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union, 212° Mortgage, Freedom Federal Credit Union, Harford County Office of Community and Economic Development, Home Partnership Inc., and Habitat for Humanity.

“We hope community members take advantage of this free opportunity to gather valuable information and learn more about their rights,” said HarCAR CEO Kathy McFadden. “REALTORS® are guided by a strict code of ethics and believe it’s important to make sure buyers have an understanding of fair housing laws and obligations.”
