Next Free Workshop is July 20

Buying a home for the first time can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Find out what you need to know at any of the free monthly workshops offered by the Harford County Office of Community and Economic Development.  The next workshop will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20 at the McFaul Activities Center, 525 W. MacPhail Road in Bel Air.

Attendees will learn the essentials of homebuying, including

  • Understanding affordability, borrowing, and credit;
  • Getting pre-approved for a mortgage;
  • How to select a Realtor;
  • The purchasing process, including home inspections and title reviews; and
  • Responsibilities once you become a homeowner.

Presenters include industry professionals in real estate, lending, home inspections, and title companies, and Harford County HUD-certified counselors. All will be available to answer questions after the presentation.

Attendance at a workshop meets the certificate requirements for individuals in Harford County’s Housing Counseling Program, but the workshops are open to anyone looking to purchase a home in Maryland. This includes people buying their first home, those who have not yet started the process, and anyone purchasing a second home who is looking for a refresher.

Attendees must pre-register at https://www.harfordcountymd.gov/1534/First-time-Homebuyers.  Future workshop dates and locations vary and are also posted on this webpage.

Anyone with questions may contact Keith Kimmel, Office of Community & Economic Development at 410-638-3045 or [email protected].
