Third Annual Havre de Grace Jazz & Blues Fest Returns in June

The Havre de Grace (HdG) Arts Collective will present the Havre de Grace Jazz & Blues Fest on June 3-5, 2022 sponsored by Armstrong.  Three days of live music and more at the top of the Chesapeake. The City-wide music festival, which kicks off with First Friday on June 3th, will present outstanding jazz and blues performances at multiple venues in the HdG Arts & Entertainment District, including “The Wilburn Company Headliners Stage” at the STAR Centre of Havre de Grace, and the “Carolyn & Peter Zinner Main Stage” at the Cultural Center at the Opera House for ticketed seated concerts;  as well as the “Integrity Real Estate/Key Title ‘Locals’ Stage on Pennington” in the heart of downtown Havre de Grace for free one-hour shows.  The Art deco renovated State Theater of Havre de Grace also presents ticketed concerts.

The festival lineup at “The Wilburn Company Headliners Stage” at the STAR Centre includes Grammy-nominated Shemekia Copeland, named International Artist of the Year by the UK Blues Federation; Entertainer of the Year by the Blues Foundation; and #1 Blues Album of the Year by MOJO Magazine; and Swedish multi-instrumentalist and Jazz singer Gunhild Carling who is reminiscent of the 20’s and 30’s hot swing style.

The “Carolyn & Peter Zinner Main Stage” at the Cultural Center at the Opera House will feature Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist Raul Midón, a workshop and show by Felix Pastorius and the Hipster Assassins, Maryland Rising Stars concert featuring Hot Club of Baltimore and the brother-sister team of Ebban and Ephraim Dorsey, and Piedmont Blūz, ambassadors of country blues music and the Piedmont style of fingerpicking.

The “Integrity Real Estate/Key Title ‘Locals’ Stage on Pennington” (tented for band and standing audience) with free one-hour shows will feature Joe Keyes & The Late Bloomers Band (blues and funk), Billy Pierce Band (blues), Roberto Villedo Group (latin jazz), Oliver Unger Band featuring Morgan Gonce (jazz and blues), The Bratcher Project (jazz) and the interactive families’ program Baltimore Jazz for Kids.

The newly renovated State Theater of Havre de Grace shows include Kelly Bell Band (blues rock), Jazz & Blues Brunch with Kevin Howard (jazz and blues), Saxl Rose & Noah Pierre (smooth jazz), Rene Ibanez & the Cubano Groove (latin jazz), Jazz & Blues Brunch with Kevin Levi (jazz and blues) and Swamp Dog (blues).

This year we bring Family FunDay Sunday, with free shows and activities beginning with a High School Jazz Bands show, family-interactive show from the Baltimore Jazz Alliance for Kids, Moonbounce and other activities on Pennington Avenue, and special family pricing to our closing show with Gunhild Carling.
