We are pleased to announce that HDS has selected an outstanding and experienced educator, Devin Wootton, to succeed Lynne Myavec as the Head of the Middle School. Mr. Wootton will also serve as the Assistant Head of School, a role that will be crucial as the School continues its 10-year AIMS accreditation process and the implementation of our strategic plan.

“Devin steps into very big shoes; however, he has shown us that he is up for the challenge. We’re so excited to welcome Devin and his family to our Harford Day School community,” said Susan Kearney, Head of School.

Devin Wootton comes to Harford Day after serving as the Assistant Head of Pine Cobble School in Williamstown, Massachusetts. In this role, he supervised faculty, developed leadership positions, and oversaw the school’s curriculum and programming. During his five-year tenure at Pine Cobble, he also taught Middle School English classes and managed student discipline. Prior to his time in New England, Devin worked as a Language Training teacher and Grade Level Dean at University Prep in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Wootton began his teaching career at the Wye River Upper School in Queen Anne’s County in 2007. He transitioned to leadership following a desire to develop programming that fosters kindness, inquiry, and critical thinking.

A native of Kent County, Mr. Wootton is excited to trade lobsters for blue crabs and return to Maryland with his wife, daughter, and puppy.

Harford Day School is a private school for students in Preschool through Grade 8, offering an enriched curriculum and small classes. The School is located on Moores Mill Road in Bel Air.
