In recognition of May as National Historic Preservation Month, Harford County is inviting residents to celebrate its historic places.

The #HarfordLovesHistoricPreservation social media campaign aims to spark year-round conversations about preservation and the importance of local history. It’s easy to join the campaign and visit the county’s historic sites.

1. SNAP. Go to one of Harford’s historic sites and have a friend snap a photo of you holding a “Harford County Loves Historic Preservation” sign. Selfies and “usies” (group photos) are also welcome. The sign can be downloaded  from the county website where you can also find suggestions of historic landmarks to visit at https://www.harfordcountymd.gov/3386/Harford-Loves-Historic-Preservation.

2. SHARE. Share your photos using the hashtag #HarfordLovesHistoricPreservation on your own social media platforms. Send your photos to Harford County government with the name of your group and/or organization and where the photo was taken, and they’ll be posted on the county’s social media pages throughout May. Send photos to [email protected].

3. REPEAT & SPREAD THE WORD. Keep it going! Visit as many local historic sites as you can and spread the word among family and friends.

“We hope to see residents learning about and visiting Harford’s historic sites,” County Executive Barry Glassman said. “These treasures are all around us and we want to keep preserving them for future generations.”
