A Conversation with Brenna Kupferman and Arden McClune from the Liriodendron Mansion

What do you know of this beautiful historic home?

Harford County Living presents Conversations with Rich Bennett, coming to you from the Freedom Federal Credit Union studios.

On this episode, Rich and cohost Alicia Hamilton are joined by Brenna Kupferman and Arden McClune from the Liriodendron Mansion.

The Liriodendron is Dr. Howard Kelly and his wife Laetitia’s historic home and estate. Dr. Kelly was a renowned surgeon and one of the Johns Hopkins Medical College’s four founding physicians.

Dr. Kelly built the mansion as a summer home for his wife, Letitia, and their nine children, and it remained in the Kelly family until the early 1970s. Dr. Kelly transferred ownership to his son, Fritz, in 1935, and he lived there until his death in 1980. The estate was later sold to Harford County, which still owns the land.

The Liriodendron Foundation, a non-profit organization, was formed to preserve and maintain the mansion and its grounds. The Liriodendron is now a wedding, conference, events, and arts facility, with a second-floor art gallery showcasing mostly local artists.
