Ninja Abingdon Martial Arts is expanding with plans to open a second studio in Forest Hill in January 2022. The company also is changing its name to Empire Dojo.
Since 2016, Ninja Abingdon has seen constant growth in its membership and programming.
That growth has enabled the company to expand into a new part of Harford County, according to its owner, Sensei Luis Martinez.
The second location is at 2205 Commerce Road, putting it close to Bel Air and the surrounding area. Although the opening is not until January 2022, the new location is already accepting applications for membership.
The Abingdon location on Route 924 near Singer Road will continue to serve its members.
Both locations serve children from age 4 and up, as well as adults at all fitness and martial arts levels.
Both locations will provide traditional and modern techniques of self defense. Training also focuses heavily on character development, discipline, focus, and leadership development skills. Empire Dojo’s main disciplines include Japanese Jujutsu and Krav Maga. Ninja Abingdon is the only studio in Harford County that offers true Krav Maga lessons and certifications.
“My team and I are extremely excited to begin this new venture” said Martinez, who is master instructor at Empire Dojo.
The name change foretells of the company’s plans to grow beyond its second location. “Our plan is to open several locations not just in Maryland but across the country. Changing the name will make things a lot simpler for future expansion,” Martinez said. “I have been involved in martial arts since the age of 6 so I know firsthand how martial arts can change someone’s life for the better,” Martinez said.
“I would have never thought when I was a young man that I would have a chance to help so many people and children. I never thought it would get this big. I have my customers, associates, and employees to thank. This was a team effort to get here.”
