The Humane Society of Harford County Filled to Capacity

Adoption Fees on All Dogs, Cats & Kittens Reduced to $25

The race is on to find homes for an abundance of dogs, cats and kittens that have filled the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) to capacity. Beginning today and until further notice, HSHC is lowering the dog, cat and kitten adoption fee to just $25 (regularly $35-250 for dogs and $95-125 for cats and kittens). All dog adoptions will include a free Tito’s Handmade Vodka dog hoodie or sweater, while cat and kitten adoptions will include a free cat toy or treat bag (while supplies last). All adopters will also receive a free starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet dry food.

The Humane Society of Harford County is located at 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD 21047 but is currently adopting out pets by appointment only. To see all the available pets and complete an online adoption application (required to get an appointment), visit HarfordShelter.org/animals. Adoptions counselors can be reached at [email protected]. Appointments will be scheduled between 11am and 6pm weekdays, 10am-5pm on Saturdays and 12-4pm on Sundays.

“If you’ve been thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, now is the time,” says executive director Jen Swanson. “And at just $25 each, now is the time to make the leap and adopt two adult cats or two kittens together. It may come as a surprise, but two kittens are actually half the work of one. Giving your kitten a buddy will improve their emotional and behavioral lives while making your life easier because they will entertain each other.”

Although adoption fees are reduced, regular adoption procedures still apply. Animals adopted from HSHC are spayed or neutered and include a distemper vaccination (DHPP for dogs and FVRCP for cats), canine kennel cough vaccination, a rabies vaccination (if age appropriate), FeLV (feline leukemia) & FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) testing, de-wormer, flea & tick preventative, a microchip, a free sample of Hill’s Science Diet dry food, and a general exam.
