Umbarger has been a staff writer with Harford’s Heart since 2011, bringing Staying Fit and Healthy Choices to its readers. She enjoyed a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher at Homestead-Wakefield for over 24 years, holds a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, she is an active personal trainer and group fitness instructor, field hockey coach, cycling instructor at Off the Chain Cycling Studio in Bel Air, Certified Rock Steady Boxing Coach and is an Advisory Board Member for the non-profit, Rally Against Parkinson’s.
