Benfield Electric Co. is pleased to announce it will be a corporate sponsor for the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s of Greater Maryland.
Founded in 1968 by Charlie and Patricia Benfield, Benfield Electric quickly grew from a small, family-owned business to the recognized industry leader it is today. Headquartered in Aberdeen, Maryland, Benfield Electric Co. now services the greater Maryland area, southern Delaware and south-eastern Pennsylvania with satellite locations in York, PA, Columbia, MD and sister company, Benfield Electric Co. of Virginia in Manassas, VA.
On January 29, 2020 Pat Benfield passed on from this life, ending her battle with Alzheimer’s. This year’s corporate sponsorship for the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s of Greater Maryland is in honor of her legacy.
“Organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association helped me and my family find the right type of care for my Mom. That is why we have decided to help in their cause, so other families can get the help in their struggle” says son, Greg Benfield, President of Benfield Electric.
Greg Benfield is passionate about corporate responsibility and giving back to his local community. Former March of Dimes Walk Chair for Harford County (2010-2012) and current Board Member for the Harford Day School, Alzheimer’s research, advocacy and care is a cause with a personal connection.
“When my mother, Pat Benfield, started showing symptoms of Alzheimer’s, we found the process of getting help very confusing and challenging. Unlike other diseases, Alzheimer’s does not have a dedicated specialist to go to, that will help you in the care of your sick relative”.
David McShea, executive director, Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Maryland Chapter says “The Alzheimer’s Association thanks and commends Greg and Benfield Electric for this generous gift that will be used to provide care and support to other families that are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia.”
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The Harford/Cecil Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2021 and the Greater Baltimore Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2021.
