The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) is seeking artwork submissions for its eighth annual Sprout Film & Art Festival taking place virtually Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 6-7 p.m. Streamed live on The Arc NCR’s website and social media channels, the festival will showcase the many artistic talents of individuals with and without differing abilities as well as short films from the renowned NYC company, Sprout.
Artists of all skill levels are invited to submit one piece, either two or three dimensional, to The Arc NCR. Artwork can be any medium but must be display/photography-ready.
To ensure COVID-19 safety, The Arc NCR requests participating artists contact the organization’s development office prior to dropping off their artwork in the main lobby located at 4513 Philadelphia Road in Aberdeen. Submissions will be accepted Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and all pieces are due by January 4, 2021.
Understanding that many families and individuals are faced with financial challenges due to COVID-19, The Arc NCR’s 2021 installment of the festival will be free for both artists and guests to attend from the comfort of their homes. Submitted artwork will be showcased on The Arc NCR’s website, and attendees will have the option to purchase pieces that resonate with them.
To date, the event’s sponsors include APGFCU, Dimensional Health Care Associates and Harford Mutual Insurance Companies, and there are many opportunities still available. Sponsorship proceeds benefit Harford and Cecil County residents’ ability to live, work and thrive in the community. Founded in 1979, Sprout is a private, nonprofit organization based in New York City that provides travel and recreational opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities. The organization provides year-round travel and vacation programs, weekend-long music and arts festivals, and other events that showcase the talents of people with developmental disabilities. The annual Sprout Film Festival, created in 2003, presents film and video related to the field of developmental disabilities, made in the United States and abroad.
