Harford County continues its tradition of flying a commemorative flag at the county administrative office building throughout the month of September.
County Executive Barry Glassman invites all Harford County citizens to observe a private moment of silence on the 19th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks this Friday at 8:46 a.m. At that time, the public is also welcome to gather with county employees for a brief ceremony outside the county government administrative building at 220 S. Main Street in Bel Air. Attendees should maintain social distancing and wear masks where appropriate.
It was 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2001 when the first plane struck the World Trade Center in New York City.
“The coronavirus pandemic continues to bring challenges to our families and communities, and on Friday we will recall another time when our country was hit by an unprecedented attack,” County Executive Glassman said. “As we remember the innocent victims of that tragic day, let us also remember that our nation has weathered many storms. As always, the best way forward is together.”
