After being closed to the public since mid-March, the Harford County
Health Department Office of Vital Records, located at 120 S. Hays Street, will re-open its doors to the public by appointment only beginning on August 3, 2020.
Those who need a birth or death certificate will now have the ability to make an appointment on-line by logging into https://HCHDVitalRecords.as.me/. The link will be posted on the homepage of the health department’s website, www.harfordcountyhealth.com, as well as the birth and death certificate webpage. The health department recommends downloading the application for a birth or death certificate from the website and filling it out prior to the appointment.
Harford County Deputy Health Officer, Marcy Austin, says, “Online scheduling of appointments is a new process for the health department and we hope to be able to continue the process not only for Vital Records, but for our other programs as well, as we begin our reopening stage. We look forward to welcoming the public back in person.”
The goal is to keep visitors and staff safe and minimize the spread of COVID-19 during the transition back to serving the public; therefore, the health department has established additional safety guidelines:
• Guests must come to the appointment alone,
• Guests must arrive to their appointment on time and remain in their vehicle until contacted by health department staff,
• Guests will receive a health screening upon entry to the building,
• A mask is required at all times while in the building.
