Havre de Grace Public Arts Collective Creates Read-Alouds for Children

The Havre de Grace Arts Collective (Arts Collective) is offering “Read-Alouds” on its YouTube channel featuring Harford County personalities reading stories to entertain children of all ages during the COVID-19 crisis.  The Read-Alouds will help children continue to develop their reading skills despite school closures.

Thanks to authors and publishers graciously loosening licensing restrictions, the Arts Collective is able to include well-known favorites as well as books by local authors. Featured readers include:
• Camay Calloway Murphy (activist and author) reading from her own book Billy John 13
• Ron Wooden (Havre de Grace Elementary School Principal) reading I Love You Just the Way You Are by Rosie Greening
• Tracy Robertson (Arts Collective Board member) and Son Colt reading Put Me In the Zoo by Robert Lopshire• April Burril (Artist) reading  Boo’s Big Growl written by JimmyO Burril and illustrated by April & JimmyO Burril
Rebecca Jessop (Arts Collective Executive Director) reading Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems

The Read-Alouds are available for viewing through June 30th.

The Havre de Grace Arts Collective is a 501(c)(3) organization created to address the cultural and economic needs of Havre de Grace and the surrounding region, including oversight of the Cultural Center at the Opera House, Arts and Entertainment District, Arts by the Bay Gallery and the Havre de Grace Public Art Committee.  The Havre de Grace Arts Collective, Inc. is funded in part through grants from the City of Havre de Grace, Maryland State Arts Council, Harford County Dept. of Community and Economic Development and the Maryland State Arts Council through the Harford County Cultural Arts Board.
