16th Annual After d’Arc Gala features safari theme and cuisine

The Arc NCR’s “Let’s Get Wild” Gala has been postponed until Friday, June 12, 2020. It will still take place at Water’s Edge from 7-11:30 p.m.

Presented by Freedom Federal Credit Union, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) proudly announces its 16th annual After d’Arc Gala, “Let’s Get Wild,” taking place Saturday, April 4, 2020 from 7–11:30 p.m. at Water’s Edge Events Center, located at 4687 Millennium Drive in Belcamp.

The gala, The Arc NCR’s most lavish and influential fundraiser of the year, raises funds to support the nonprofit’s mission to empower people with differing abilities to live, work and thrive in Harford and Cecil Counties. The evening begins with an exclusive VIP reception for top sponsors, followed by a safari-inspired dinner, a silent and live auction and dancing to live music from the Klassix.

Dinner will showcase flavors inspired by popular dishes from a variety of African countries sure to tantalize the taste buds such as pampoenkoekies (butternut squash fritters) with cinnamon dust, Botswana pumpkin soup, prime rib roast with chakalaka, a mildly spicy South African condiment and Moroccan chicken tagine served with pearl couscous.

The event’s 8th annual “Fund the Need” campaign will raise money to support The Arc NCR’s Family Support Services (FSS) program. Designed to provide support to all families, FSS offers resource information and referrals, informational workshops and trainings, assistance locating funding resources, advocacy in obtaining and maneuvering community resources and respite care services. In the past year alone, FSS has made a difference in the lives of more than 300 Harford and Cecil County residents.

“From the décor to dinner, ‘Let’s Get Wild’ will be an event like none other in our region,” says Shawn Kros, The Arc NCR’s chief executive. “We’re excited to encourage everyone to ‘get wild’ about supporting people in our community with differing abilities!”

The Arc NCR invites the community to “get wild” starting at a pre-event taking place Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Liberatore’s in Bel Air (562 Baltimore Pike) from 6-9 p.m. The pre-event will feature signature cocktails, raffles, 50/50 drawings, jewelry for sale and more. Ten percent of Liberatore’s food and beverage sales at the event will be donated back to The Arc NCR to support its programs and services.
