Free T-shirt for qualifying participants in Harford Streams Summer Adventure and July 20 poker run.
Back by popular demand, Harford County will host a “poker run” on Saturday, July 20 as part of Harford Streams Summer Adventure 2019. This award-winning program is open to citizens of all ages and raises awareness and support for protecting local waterways. Poker run participants take selfies and collect playing cards from an attendant at designated stream locations to earn a free T-shirt and be eligible for other exciting prizes. Harford County’s poker run is presented in partnership with the nonprofit Visit Harford, the county’s destination tourism marketing organization.
Poker run participants should register between 9 – 10 a.m. at the Eden Mill Nature Center, 1617 Eden Mill Road in Pylesville, and return by 12:30 p.m. to collect their T-shirt. Those who collect the top three poker hands will win extra prizes, including a YETI Roadie 20 cooler, ALPHA CAMP 6 to 10-person family camping tent, and Daiwa D-Wave Saltwater Spinning Combo fishing rod. New this year, the low hand will receive a YETI Rambler 30-ounce tumbler with Mag Slider lid.
Kona Ice will be available for purchase and discount coupons will be distributed at registration. Exhibitors at Eden Mill Nature Center will include “animal talk” with a live owl, Myrtle the Recycling Turtle, Harford County Office of Drug Control Policy, Watershed Stewards Academy, Harford Land Trust, Visit Harford, and WaveCrest. Participants are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, enjoy the nature center, and explore hiking trails throughout the park.
The July 20 poker run is part of Harford Streams Summer Adventure, a summer-long event inviting citizens to explore local streams, take selfies at their favorite locations, and send in the photos to win prizes from the Harford County Department of Public Works’ Office of Watershed Protection and Restoration. Pre-registration is required for this program, which runs this summer through Monday, September 2, 2019. Some restrictions apply. To learn more, visit bit.ly/HSSummerAdventure.
