UMBC Soccer Team Raises Money at Seventh Annual Soccer Game
On Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., UMBC will host the La Salle University Explorers for the Seventh Annual “Kicks for Chase” charity soccer game. The game is a fundraiser for The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR), an organization that empowers individuals with differing abilities to live, work and thrive in the community. Admission to the “Kicks for Chase” game is free – however, donations to support the organization’s work will be accepted.
Kicks for Chase began in 2013 in memory of Chase Bugarin. Chase, son of UMBC soccer standout Bryan Bugarin and his wife, Amy, was born with Down Syndrome and severe complications. In his memory, and to benefit kids like Chase with Downs Syndrome, UMBC Men’s Soccer began “Kicks for Chase” to raise money for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We are honored to partner once again with UMBC on their annual Kicks for Chase game, which helps brings awareness to people with Downs Syndrome. UMBC’s commitment to this game shows their true support for their community and for people with differing abilities,” says Shawn Kros, CEO of The Arc NCR.
Commemorative Under Armour T-shirts and refreshments from Chartwell’s Dining Services will be available for sale at the game. All money raised will go toward The Arc NCR’s programs and services.
“We are excited to continue our annual tradition of hosting the ‘Kicks for Chase’ game,” says Pete Caringi, Jr., Head Coach of UMBC Men’s Soccer. “The Arc NCR does really important work, and we are proud to bring the UMBC soccer community together to support this great organization.”
