As part of Military Saves Week 2019, APG Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) and Freedom Federal Credit Union have joined together to encourage saving among service members and their families. The credit unions will sponsor a weeklong savings campaign featuring free financial education seminars to teach and encourage good savings habits.
Military Saves Week runs from Feb. 25 through March 2. Representatives from both credit unions will be on site to facilitate several financial education seminars on topics from saving and investing, to saving for retirement, to buying and selling a home. The workshops will be offered throughout the week at various times and locations on the installation.
To encourage savings, the credit unions will offer a special incentive for new member accounts opened during the promotional period to all Department of Defense employees, contractors, active duty, reserve, National Guard and retired military personnel and their family members.
APGFCU and Freedom Federal Credit Union collaborate on this initiative annually to encourage service members and their families to take a proactive approach to their financial wellness. During the weeklong event, individuals will have the opportunity to take the 2019 Military Savings Pledge. The pledge is designed to help individuals set a goal and make a plan to save automatically.
Military Saves Week is coordinated by America Saves and the Consumer Federation of America in partnership with the Department of Defense. The week is an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status.
