Recent tragedies in Harford County are a reminder that emergencies and disasters can happen anywhere at anytime. Find out what you need to know to protect yourself and your loved ones in a range of hazardous situations. Register now for Harford County’s free “Prepare Because You Care” emergency preparedness training program developed by the Harford County Department of Emergency Services.
The next four-week session will be held on Wednesday evenings from January 9 – 30, 2019. All classes will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Southern Precinct at 1305 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood. Participants must be over 18; younger attendees are permitted with written consent from a parent, close relative, or guardian. Registration is required, as available seats fill up quickly and space is limited.
Participants must attend all four classes, which will cover the following topics:
- January 9 Orientation/Crime Prevention/Run, Hide, Fight/Law Enforcement Briefing
- January 16 Assembling an Emergency Supply Kit/Fire Safety/Using a Fire Extinguisher
- January 23 Stop the Bleed, First Aid Training
- January 30 CPR/How to Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)/Graduation
