Supporting Harford Family House’s Hope in Handbags Campaign

In continued support of Harford Family House’s Hope in Handbags campaign, Freedom Federal Credit Union ran a collection drive for new and gently used handbags from mid-June through the end of July. Thanks in large part to Freedom’s generous members, the Credit Union collected close to 300 handbags, the most since it started supporting the Hope in Handbags Campaign in 2013. The handbags will be sold or auctioned off at the Hope in Handbags event, held in November, to benefit families with children experiencing homelessness in Harford County.

Harford Family House CEO, Robin Tomechko, visited the Credit Union in early August to collect the handbags, but due to the overwhelming quantity donated, Freedom made arrangements to deliver them to Harford Family House instead.  Tomechko applauded the success of the drive, stating “We are thrilled with the efforts of Freedom Federal Credit Union and all their members who generously donated. We are so very grateful and quite impressed with the results”.

The Hope in Handbags event will be held at the Bel Air Reckord Armory and will feature an exclusive preview on Friday, November 2nd from 6:00 -8:30 PM, followed by the main event on Saturday, November 3rd from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  Freedom is a frequent contributor to Harford Family House, whose mission is to help Harford County families and unaccompanied young adults who are experiencing homelessness transition into stable/permanent housing.
