Thursday, November 9th

600 Red Pump Road, Bel Air, MD 21014 Media Center

(1:30 pm – 4:30 pm)

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. The flu causes mild to severe illness and at times can lead to death. Children, especially school-aged children, are more likely to catch the flu. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year.

Seasonal influenza (flu) vaccine is designed to protect against the three or four influenza viruses that research indicates are most likely to spread and cause illness among people during the upcoming flu season. Because flu viruses are constantly changing, the vaccine composition is reviewed each year and is updated as needed based on which influenza viruses are making people sick.
