Legal documents such as a financial power of attorney and advance healthcare medical directive can relieve the burden of resolving legal issues during difficult times. The Harford County Department of Community Services Office on Aging, in partnership with the Harford Bar Foundation, will offer free information and assistance with drafting these important documents in the fall series of “Decisions That Determine Your Destiny.” This award-winning program launched in 2016 helps individuals and families carry out the wishes of a loved one in the event of a catastrophic illness or injury.
The upcoming program will start with a presentation to demystify the legal process and identify the necessary information and factors to consider before drafting a financial power of attorney and/or advance medical directive. The Department of Community Services Office on Aging will provide a handy checklist folder for all participants.
Presentations will be held at 12:30 p.m. on the following dates at these locations:
Tuesday, October 10 at the Fallston Activity Center | 1707 Fallston Road, Fallston;
Wednesday, October 18 at the McFaul Activity Center | 525 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air;
Tuesday, November 14 at the Havre de Grace Activity Center | 351 Lewis Lane, Havre de Grace.
At the conclusion of each presentation, participants will be offered the opportunity to register for a limited number of future mini-sessions to meet privately with an attorney who will draft the legal documents free of charge.
Determine your destiny by attending the program near you. Advanced registration is required to ensure adequate seating; contact Lisa Anderson, [email protected] or 410-638-3025 ext. 2521.
