Popular ice skating rink returns early, opening on Black Friday
We can’t blame you for not being interested in standing in massive lines for a supposed mega-deal on a fur-trimmed bedazzled cup warmer at the mall. Why not come to downtown Havre de Grace and experience all of the fun, festivities and joys of the season with our Holiday Ice Skating Rink!
The Havre de Grace Ice Skating Rink will be at the foot of Congress Avenue and the Susquehanna River in Hutchins Park. The outdoor rink along the waterfront will help you get in the spirit of the season with outdoor seating to keep an eye on the little ones, festive lights and great music to skate, dance, leap or spin to while gliding across the ice. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.
Every single weekend a different non-profit community organization has signed on to run the rink, with 70% of proceeds from admission and skate rentals supporting the outstanding organizations who give so much to our communities.
The rink opens on Black Friday, November 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., on Small Business Saturday, November 26, from noon to 8 p.m., and on Sunday, November 27, from noon to 6 p.m. Regular hours are Fridays 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. and Sundays noon to 6 p.m., with a special noon to 8 p.m. schedule from December 26 to January 2 this year.
Come out and get your holiday season started off on the right skate, or left, and support some amazing non-profits while you enjoy the Havre de Grace Ice Skating Rink. Organizations volunteering to run the ice rink are: Havre de Grace Alliance, Inc., November 25 to 27; Havre de Grace Rec Cheerleading, December 2 to 4; Havre de Grace High School PTSA, December 9 to 11; Havre de Grace High School Football & Cheer, December 16 to 18; Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission December 27 to 27; Boy Scouts Venture Crew 1917, December 29 to 29; Havre de Grace Little League, December 30 to 31; Havre de Grace Rec Basketball, January 1 and 2; and the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps January 6 to 8.
