Brigitte Peters, executive director of the Community Foundation of Harford County, was named one of 25 “Women to Watch” in 2016 by The Baltimore Sun.

Peters was recognized in the “Women to Watch” magazine published by The Sun on October 2 and at an event held at the Baltimore Museum of Art on October 5.

The gathering of approximately 250 business and community leaders featured a reception and keynote address by Beth Kaplan, strategic advisor and former president of Rent the Runway. Her remarks focused on the importance of one’s reputation, impact of influence, how to leave gracefully and picking partners carefully.

“I am humbled by the honor,” Peters said. “Community Foundation of Harford County provides many philanthropic opportunities to families and individuals enabling them to do good work in helping their community now and in the future.”

Peters was named executive director of the Community Foundation of Harford County in May. Since that time, she initiated the Harford County Hope for the Homeless Fund to empower the faith-based community to fight  homelessness; brought greater awareness to the We Cancerve Fund; and developed a new scholarship for TIC Gums to encourage the study of food science.

Founded in 2007, the Community Foundation of Harford County is a nonprofit supported by the community through donations, enabling individuals, families and businesses to leave a legacy to benefit the causes that matter on a local level. In 2014, Community Foundation of Harford County received accreditation from the Community Foundations National Standards Board, the nation’s highest honor for philanthropic excellence.
